One motorcyclist was killed, another was injured in a crash on Highway 110 in Cherokee County.
According to South Carolina Highway Patrol, two motorcycles were driving on Highway 110 when one of the motorcycles struck a 1998 Ford pickup truck crossing from Cudd Road to Bonner Road.
The driver of the 2000 Honda motorcycle that hit the truck was thrown from the bike and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Cherokee County Coroner’s Office identified the driver of the Honda motorcycle as 41 year old David Wayne Allen of Spartanburg.
Coroner Dennis Fowler says his office is trying to determine if Allen was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Fowler says a helmet was found at the scene, but was not on the victim when rescue crews arrived.
The driver of the other motorcycle, a 2004 Independent, was injured but did not go to the hospital.
Neither motorcyclist was wearing a helmet.
The driver of the truck was not injured but two passengers were taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.
No charges have been filed at this time, the crash remains under investigation.
