Crews Clear Diesel Fuel Spill In Laurens Co.

LAURENS COUNTY, SC- An 18-wheeler hit a cable barrier in the median of I-26 which punctured the diesel truck, Wednesday morning.

It happened at mile marker 46 near exit 44 in Laurens County.

The diesel tank was thought to be half full at time; about 100 gallons of fuel spilled into the median, according to the Sandy Springs Fire Department.

Crews were working to keep the diesel fuel out of the storm drain that goes to the Enoree River.

DHEC responded to the scene and used hazmat gear to clean up the spill.

The accident has been cleared, according to the South Carolina Highway Patrol
