The Pickens Co. sheriff’s office has charged an Easley man with hurting a six month old baby.
Deputies have charged Benjamin Sean Lee Bolding, 25, with abuse to inflict great bodily injury to a child.
According to the arrest warrant, on December 17th, the six month old baby girl was in the care of Bolding, who is the mother’s live-in boyfriend.
The sheriff’s office says the initial report said the baby was injured while sleeping in a wooden crib.
Investigators said the injuries were inconsistent with the explanation given by Bolding.
Deputies say the assault caused injuries to the baby’s head and face.
The injuries were so severe that it caused a substantial risk of death and the baby was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The victim’s mother was at work when the child was hurt.
Bolding was arrested and taken to the Pickens Co. detention center where he is being held on a $20,000 bond.
