An investigation into the death of an Easley man Tuesday is being handled by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Department, the man found on the floor of his home on Planters Way has been identified as Clarence Berry Holcombe, 54.
A neighbor called in a report to 911 saying they saw their neighbor Holcombe unresponsive and lying on the floor of their home.
The Sheriff’s Office and EMS arrived at the home and confirmed they could see Holcombe inside and he was not responding to multiple knocks on the door. Officials forced their way inside to deliver aid to him.
The coroner says Holcombe died from a single gunshot wound to the upper chest.
No weapon was found at the scene and investigators say there appears to be no forced entry in this case.
The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office does not have anyone in custody at this time. They are talking with family members, friends, and acquaintances to find out more about this crime.
