CBS News reports an ex-con was planning to carry out a New Year’s Eve machete attack at a Rochester bar according to the FBI.
An FBI informant says 25-year-old Emanuel Lutchman was trying to prove he was worthy of joining ISIS.
He was charged with attempting to provide material support to terrorists.
CBS is reporting that Lutchman is a self-professed convert to Islam who claimed to receive direction from an overseas ISIS member and planned to carry out an attack at a bar / restaurant.
Lutchman was described as having a criminal history including a 2006 robbery conviction that led to a five-year prison sentence and arrests for what was described as “mental hygiene” issues.
