Kyle Carpenter, the Medal of Honor recipient from South Carolina, has been charged in a hit-and-run in Columbia.
Police say on December 8th around 8:30 p.m., Carpenter hit a man was was trying to cross the intersection of Assembly and Blossom Streets at a crosswalk.
Investigators say Carpenter, who was honored for his actions in Afghanistan, pulled over and turned on his hazard lights, but did not get out of the vehicle to exchange required information or help.
Reports say the pedestrian stood up and walked over to the side of the road and says Carpenter drove away.
The victim then went inside the Strom Thurmond fitness center to call police and EMS.
The victim has a leg injury but is expected to make a full recovery.
