PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -– When police finally got a man to pull over after leading them on a wild chase they asked him his name.
His response? “Idiot. (Expletive) Idiot.”
Tyrone Brown, 40, appeared in court Wednesday after being charged with felony attempting to elude police, recklessly endangering, reckless driving and unlawful possession of meth.
Around 11:40 p.m. Tuesday, officers saw Brown driving a BMW so fast that the vehicle “lifted up on its chassis and then slam back down as it crested the crown on North Lombard,” according to court documents.
Brown ran several stop signs as he was driving about 35 mph through residential neighborhoods, police said.
Eventually, Brown crashed his car and fled on foot. As he was being taken into custody, he yelled out “I’m a (expletive) idiot. I’m sorry officer, I’m sorry,” court documents show.
Brown then told officers he knew he made a “dumb” decision to run, according to court documents.
He added that he thought he was going to be assaulted by the arresting officers, but “he was impressed with how the police handled the situation and that he had not been treated so well before by the police.”
Brown will appear in court next month for his arraignment.
