Man Charged In Estill Police Officer Shooting

ESTILL, S.C.- A suspect has been arrested in the shooting of an Estill police officer on New Year’s Day.

South Carolina Law Enforcement Division says Malcolm Antwon Orr, 27, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

Estill Police Officer Quincy Smith responded to a suspicious person call on January 1 when he was shot in a line of fire by the suspect.

SLED says officers were able to identify the suspect from the officer’s body camera footage.

If Orr is found guilty he could be sentenced up to 35 years in prison.

Orr is currently being held at the Hampton County Detention Center.
