Survey Shows Most Popular Resolutions Of 2016

NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) – For many people a new year means bringing on new resolutions. GOBankingRates conducted a survey to find out what the most popular new year’s resolutions would be for 2016.

Nearly 40 percent of respondents picked losing weight as their choice for a resolution. If you’re among those aiming to loose weight this year remember, gym memberships at some facilities can run you around $30 a month, so if you don’t work out, that’s money out the door.

Spending less, saving more, and spending more time with family also made the list. The only problem with those resolutions though is that together they can sometimes be incompatible. After all, family vacations can cost thousands of dollars meaning less money in your wallet. However, if you stay local you can have the best of both worlds. At Sports Center in Shelton, staff there say a day at the arcade and driving range will only run you about $20.

Another popular resolution that made the list was living a healthier lifestyle. And if you’re a smoker consider this, the average cost of a pack of cigarettes is around $8 a pack in the state of Connecticut. That means, if you smoke a pack a day and decide to stop in 2016 that will equal nearly $3,000 worth of savings for the year.

The most popular New Year’s resolution among respondents is to “enjoy life to the fullest.”
