Anderson Co. Deputies say Shaqwon Shontez Geer, age 20 of Anderson, was taken into custody following a Monday morning pursuit but his accomplice is still on the run.
They say they were making a routine patrol on Monday about 9:40am, when a deputy saw a suspicious vehicle in the area of George Albert Lake Road.
The blue Nissan Altima was stopped at a stop sign and its two occupants appeared to be sitting low in the vehicle’s seats as if they were trying to avoid detection.
The deputy initially continued through the intersection but turned and followed the vehicle, which began to accelerate in an attempt to elude the deputy’s pursuit.
They say the driver of the Nissan violated several traffic laws, including passing a city bus on a double yellow line. As the vehicle neared Meadow Run Apartments, it veered into a concrete barrier and both occupants ran from the vehicle.
The pursuing deputy was able to locate Geer in a breezeway of the apartment complex.
A canine unit responded to the scene but the second suspect could not be found.
Geer was transported to the Anderson County Detention Center where he currently awaits a bond hearing for possession of a stolen vehicle.
The vehicle, which had been reported stolen to the Anderson City Police Department, was turned over to that agency.
Per Sheriff John Skipper, “This case is still under investigation as we look for the remaining suspect but the deputy’s alertness to suspicious individuals is an example of the excellent work our deputies do every day.”
