Arrest made after police assaulted with car

Katrina Robinson

Asheville Police have arrested a woman they say assaulted two officers while trying to flee a traffic stop, Friday night.

39-year-old Katrina Robinson was charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon on a government official among several other charges.

Police were investigating the theft of makeup from the Kmart on Patton Avenue and attempted to stop Robinson’s vehicle in connection to that case, according to Asheville Police Lt. Wallace Welch.

Officers say Robinson locked the car and when police reached in to pull her out of the car, she hit the gas and drove away.

Lt. Welch says Robinson was arrested following a chase.

The officers suffered only minor bruises in the incident.

A passenger in Robinson’s car ran from the scene and has not been found.

Robinson is being held at the Buncombe County Dentention Facility on $31,000 bond.
