HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – The Humane Society of Hamilton County needs your help locating the person who left a puppy outside their shelter in subzero temperatures on Monday.

Officials say someone drove up to the shelter and dumped the puppy inside their fenced in area around 7 a.m. The dog was left outside for almost an hour without any shelter before help arrived.

Luckily the medical manager for the society came in early at 7:40 a.m. to find the puppy. She said the dog had hypothermia, a large gash in her head and a jump rope tied around her neck.

The vet said the dog is now warm and happy. It’s believed the gash in her head is about one day old.

Staff members believe the dog is about three months old. They’ve named her Miri.

The humane society is hoping to find Miri a foster home. They also want to find the person responsible for leaving the dog and posted surveillance video of the car entering the parking lot.

Anyone with information about who dumped Miri should contact the Noblesville Police Department at 317-773-1300.

If you would like to meet Miri the humane society is open until 5 p.m.
