Fatal motorcycle crash victim identified in Oconee Co.

The Oconee County Coroner's Office says a Seneca man died in a wreck involving a motorcycle on West Cherry Road Sunday night.

The Oconee County Coroner’s office identified a Seneca man who was involved in the wreck while riding on his motorcycle.

Troopers say it happened at 6:25 pm Sunday on West Cherry Road about 3 miles east of Seneca.

They say an SUV was stopped on a private drive headed south and was attempting to turn left onto West Cherry Road when it was hit by a Harley Davidson motorcycle.

Troopers say the driver of the SUV was not hurt, but the driver of the motorcycle, Mark Lane Sanders, 56, of Seneca, was not wearing a helmet and was ejected from the bike.

He was flown to the emergency room at Greenville Memorial Hospital where he later died.

The Oconee County Coroner’s Office says the man died from a head injury due to blunt force trauma and the death was ruled accidental.
