Union County Sheriff David Taylor is warning people of a new scam that has already hit two victims in one month.
Fake companies will hire people looking for work from home jobs. They will the tell the victim that packages will be shipped to their homes, then the employee is to print off a new shipping label, and send the package to the new address.
The sheriff warns the items inside the boxes are bought with stolen credit cards.
Two people have already been a victim of this scam in Union County and the sheriff’s credit card was used in a similar scam last year. The case has now been sent to the secret service to investigate.
If you are a victim of the crime, please call your area sheriff’s department.
