Trucker dies in I-26 crash near SC/NC line

Crews work to reopen I-26 Westbound after a tractor trailer wreck early Friday.

There was a crash overnight on Interstate 26 Eastbound in Polk County near Exit 59 at Holbert Cove Road.

This is just north of the South Carolina state line, just past Saluda.

The NC State Patrol says an 18-wheeler went off the left side of the interstate and struck a guardrail causing it to overturn around 2am in the eastbound lanes at the 60 mile marker.

The driver of the truck, Tony Joseph Hurst of Chapin, died at the scene.

All lanes have since reopened.
