When the Panthers play in the Super Bowl, the Carolina Panthers cheerleaders will also be there rooting on the team.

TopCat Leslie Spearman grew up in Pickens County. She says dance has always been a part of her life, even when she was a student at Clemson University.

“I was a Rally Cat there. I was on the dance team,” said Spearman. “I was in a sorority. I was very involved on campus and then I recently moved to Charlotte, North Carolina, where I reside now.”

Spearman is now a high school teacher near Charlotte. She tells 7 News, being on the sidelines in the NFL is a dream come true.

“I’m very excited that we’ve done so well this year and that we’re heading to the Super Bowl during my first year as a TopCat, during my first year in NFL cheerleading. I never thought that that would be a reality, but here we are!”

Spearman says the TopCats have a lot of rehearsals to get ready for the big game. They’ll be flying out to California at the end of next week.
