2 people escape house fire in Henderson Co.

FLAT ROCK, NC- A home in Henderson County is destroyed after it caught fire, Monday morning.

Blue Ridge Fire Department responded to the incident at the 2600 block of Old Spartanburg Road in Flat Rock.

Fire crews say the home was engulfed in flames when they arrived.

Two people were home at the time of the incident and they were able to make it out.

The fire chief said a neighbor reported hearing gunshots around the time the fire started, but the chief doesn’t think that was the case. According to the chief, the popping sound could have been power lines or something exploding in the trash.

25 firefighters responded to the scene from four departments.

Crews are asking people to avoid Old Spartanburg Road.
