A mother has now been charged in a case of suspected child abuse in Greer.
Tina Roebuck, 33, has been charged with three counts of neglect of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
Her husband, David John Roebuck, was charged earlier this week.
Roebuck is the stepfather, and faces three counts of neglect of a child and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, according to Greer Police.
According to the incident report, this all started when police responded to Chandler Creek Elementary School in reference to a complaint of child abuse.
In the report, the principal said one of her teachers came to her about a student that had a bruised eye, a goose egg knot on her forehead and cuts/scratches around her eyes.
The teacher says the student told her that, “Her daddy got mad and picked her up, dropped her, and popped her,” according to the report.
The report also says the teacher asked about the student’s excessive absences.
The teacher said she is typically told by the student that she is at the flea market when she is absent.
The report says the mother came to the school to pick up the student and one of the two additional children with her had a bruise on her eye.
The second child with a bruise told the principal “daddy hit me in the eye,” according to the report.
She said the mother corrected the child, telling her she got hurt in the bathtub.
The child replied with, “No daddy hit me in the eye,” according to the report.
The mother gave a statement to police that she had left the child with her stepfather, Roebuck, while she was shopping.
When she got home the child was in good spirits and said she got a “boo-boo.”
She says the child told her that she and Roebuck had been playing and he accidentally dropped her.
Roebuck was asked to come to the police department.
He was later charged and placed in the Spartanburg Detention Center on a $33,000 bond.
