February 2016 Caring for the Carolinas Award

Hi there, Jack Roper here at Boiling Springs High School, where we’re about to award our Caring for the Carolinas trophy to a young man that is a student. So let’s go inside and do that right now.

DR CHUCK GORDON – PRINCIPAL, BOILING SPRINGS HS
Will is a wonderful individual. An individual who is morally, ethically strong, and just full of character.

JEFF LIPSCOMB, BASEBALL COACH
He’s a leader. He’s the kind of kid that the younger kids look up to, because of his work ethic, because of his desire to get better. That kid has gotten the most out of his ability than anybody I think I’ve ever coached, so hopefully we’re going to have a great year with him.

Thanks to Hardee’s, Will also get a free Thickburger once a week for a year.

DR CHUCK GORDON – PRINCIPAL, BOILING SPRINGS HS
You know, he wants to go into mission work someday, to be perhaps a pastor.

CRAIG FOSTER – FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
The church has started a monthly soup kitchen, and Will came to his family and said “we need to do this.” So he really gets to know the homeless that come. They not only feed them a meal, but they get to know what they need. It may be a sleeping bag, it may be a jacket, it may be toiletries, but whatever it is they get it to them, and it’s a wonderful ministry that’s happening there on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

JACK ROPER
We have an award for you. It’s sponsored by Hardee’s and Bath Fitter and Harrison White, Smith & Coggins. Will DeLaney, you’re a young man that helps at First Presbyterian with their soup kitchen, you’re in charge of that part of the month. You’re our Caring for the Carolinas volunteer for February. Yes, I hear applause. I hear it! Congratulations.
