Gaffney High students killed in car wreck, grief counselors return to campus

Grief counselors will return to Gaffney High School Tuesday to help students who are struggling to come terms with two sudden deaths.

Shemar Byers, 18 and Dominick Galosi, 17, were killed February 5 after the vehicle they were in veered off a York County Road and crashed into a tree.  Two other passengers were seriously injured.

Gaffney High School lowered the flags at half-staff Monday morning.  Administrators says the campus is still in shock over this tragedy.

“We all need prayer,” said Assistant Principal Eric Blanton. “Not only for the students of Gaffney High School, but the families have suffered such a tragedy.  I couldn’t imagine.”

Autopsies were conducted on the bodies of Byers and Galosi.  The York County Coroner says those results and toxicology results should be available in a few weeks.
