Why were military planes flying low over Spartanburg Sunday?

Many people in Spartanburg Co., SC were wondering why military planes were flying low over the area on Sunday.

A lot of people posted pictures to our Facebook page asking about it.

Turns out it was a NC Air Guard celebrating the Carolina Panther’s season.

Charlotte Fire Communciations post this to their Facebook page:

“*ALERT* Today (Super Bowl Sunday) at around 1:40pm 9 @NCAirGuard C-130 Aircraft will conduct a ‘Max Flyover’ of Uptown Charlotte in celebration of the Panther Season. Prior to Uptown; they’re flying over the surrounding Towns. Keep your eyes to the sky’s and do not worry – ‪#‎NoEmergency‬ ‪#‎SB50‬ ‪#‎PantherPride‬ ‪#‎KeepPounding‬”

“Here’s video of the @NCAIrGuard flying over CFD Fire Station 1 in Uptown this afternoon in honor of the Carolina Panthers for Super Bowl 50 #SB50 #KeepPounding”
