SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) – Justin Gordon and Fletcher Magee combined for 46 points to lead Wofford to a 79-70 win over Mercer on Thursday night.
Gordon was 11 of 12 from the floor for 25 points and Magee, who made four 3s, had 21. Spencer Collins added 13.
Wofford (13-13, 9-4 Southern) never trailed and had a 41-27 halftime advantage.
Mercer’s Demetre Rivers nailed two straight 3-pointers to start an 11-3 run to close to 57-56 with 10:21 remaining. Magee responded with a three-point play to start a 10-4 run and the Terriers pulled ahead 67-60 with 5:54 left.
Wofford, which has won five of its last six games, shot 56 percent from the floor while holding Mercer to 26-of-60 shooting. The Terriers continued to be hot from beyond the arc, making 9 of 19 shots.
Rivers led Mercer (18-8, 8-5) with 22 points and Ethan Stair added 15. Stephon Jelks had 12 rebounds.
