The city of Toccoa Utilities has issued a Boil Water Advisory for the areas of Clearview Drive and Valley Road. It affects about 35 homes.
There is no water pressure for these homes right now due to a 6 inch water main break.
The city has repaired the break, but had to issue a boil water advisory due to the potential of contaminants being introduced into the water system.
In order to protect the public from a potential health hazard, all citizens that have experienced water outages and/or low water pressures are advised to “boil” all water prior to use for drinking, cooking, making ice or preparing baby food. The water should be boiled for at least one minute after reaching a rolling boil. Citizens in this area should continue to boil their water until they are notified by the City of Toccoa Utilities Department that the water system has been restored to full operation, and that the microbiological quality of the water in the distribution system is safe for human consumption.
