LEXINGTON, S.C. (AP) -Eleventh Circuit Solicitor Donnie Myers – who serves in the Midlands – has been arrested on a DUI charge.
The South Carolina Department of Public Safety says Myers was arrested Monday evening in Lexington. The South Carolina Highway Patrol reports Myers drove his 2007 Lexus into a tree off Old Chapin Road while trying to turn left onto Beech Creek Road.
The car was unoccupied when troopers arrived at the scene around 8:00 p.m. Those officers then went to Myers’ home, interviewed him and determined he was driving the car.
SCHP troopers arrested Myers on the DUI charge. The Department of Public Safety says Myers had a 0.09% blood-alcohol content when he was tested at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
DPS says Myers was taken to Richland County because he serves as the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor which includes Lexington County. Myers has been the solicitor there since 1976 according to WLTX-TV.
Myers pleaded guilty to DUI after an arrest in Asheville in 2005.
