Strong, gusty winds capable of knocking down some trees and power lines will be seen across much of the area into the early evening. A high wind warning is in effect for much of the area until 7 PM; a wind advisory will replace it at 7 PM and run until midnight.
While the threat for strong t-storms has moved to our east, gusty wind around this storm system remains. Expect gusts near 50 mph to be possible through the afternoon…perhaps close to 60 mph in some mountain locations.
With saturated soil from recent heavy rain, trees will be a little looser in the ground than normal, which will contribute to the downed tree threat.
The wind will slowly ease up later this evening. While damaging wind will be much less likley, gusty conditions will remain into Thursday in many locations
