Family sues Greenville Co. Sheriff, claims wrongful death

The family of a man shot to death by the Greenville County’s Sheriff’s Office is suing the sheriff’s office and Sheriff Steve Loftis for wrongful death.

Deputies were called Charles Rosemond Sr.’s home on December 10th for an armed robbery call.

The lawsuit claims that deputies did not say they were law enforcement prior to entering Rosemond’s home and did not have a warrant to enter.

The Sheriff’s Office says that Rosemond fired a shot at deputies when they arrived, one which hit Deputy Dave Dempsey in the head.

Rosemond died from his injuries.

Three people were arrested in connection with the armed robbery of Rosemond: Aundra Hunter Jr., Tivarius Henderson, Deandre Norris.
