A fire claimed both the home and pet dog of a family in Fair Play Thursday afternoon.
According to Oconee County Fire Chief Charlie King, the fire was reported around 2 p.m. on Wilderness Rd. Crews arrived on scene to a single family home fully engulfed in flames, says King.
Multiple fire crews worked to get the situation under control. It was determined that there were no injuries in the fire, but the family’s pet dog died.
King says that ammunition in the home was “popping”, but it did not affect the effort of the fire crews putting down the blaze.
The cause of the fire has been listed as accidental and the home was completely destroyed.
