The South Carolina Peach Festival lost $31,000 during it’s 2015 run according to a published report.
The Gaffney Ledger reports the festival took in $166,000 in total revenue, but had to spend close to $200,000 in expenses. The festival reports extra costs for health and safety in the summer heat hurt the bottom line.
Festival organizers had to spend additional money for fencing along Lake Whelchel for safety reasons and had to bring a refrigerated truck to keep food cold for events according to the Ledger.
The Peach Festival only charged an admission price for the tractor pull and a talent night.
The 2016 South Carolina Peach Festival is scheduled for July 7-17.
