Cleveland Park in Spartanburg will have its grand opening Saturday at 10am.
Marcia Murff with Spartanburg Parks tells 7News a ribbon cutting will take place and then organizers want children to come play on the playground built by Leathers and Associates.
The playground was built by volunteers from the community too including 2300 volunteers giving 10,000 hours of work.
The park has a memorial to Benji Easler, who died in a tragic train accident in 2011.
Other pieces of the community are represented in the park like a car modeled after a BMW that kids can play on, a play mill modeled after the Old Anderson Mill and a tree fort.
Playthings for younger children include a sandbox, swings and other climbing equipment.
The park will be open from dawn until dusk everyday after it opens on Saturday.
