(KRON) — Jared Fogle, Subway’s former pitchman, was beaten by an inmate in federal prison, TMZ reported.
The ex-sandwich spokesman, who is serving a 16-year sentence, was reportedly jumped in the rec yard at Englewood prison in Colorado on January 29, according to TMZ.
Steven Nigg, a 60-year-old inmate, pushed Fogle down and began punching him in the face.
Nigg, who’s in for a weapons charge, left Fogle with a bloody nose, swollen face and scratches on his neck, TMZ reported.
Nigg was put in solitary as punishment and suffered a small cut on his left hand from beating Fogle.
Fogle is spending almost 16 years after he pleaded guilty to one count each of distributing and receiving child porn and traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct with a child.
Fogle famously lost 200 pounds by eating Subway sandwiches but has already gained 30 pounds after three months in prison, inTouch says.
