Greenville man sentenced to life after murder conviction

John Calvin Sledge

48-year-old John Calvin Sledge, of Greenville, was convicted of murder on Wednesday, according to Thirteenth Circuit Solicitor Walt Wilkins.

Wilkins stated that Sledge was also charged with Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime and Unlawful Conduct Toward a Child.

He was sentenced to life for murder, five years for the weapon charge, and ten years for unlawful conduct toward a child, says Wilkins.

The life sentence makes Sledge ineligible for parole.

Sledge was found guilty of killing his wife, Kimberly Sledge, by shooting her in the back of the head, on January 29, 2014, according to Wilkins.
