WILMINGTON, NC- A man was charged Wednesday after police say he crashed into a Donald Trump campaign sign in Wilmington.
According to WECT-TV, Wilmington police say Julien Thomas Schuessler, 20, was charged with a hit and run, reckless driving, failing to maintain lane control.
Schuessler posted a video of him hitting the sign on Facebook and around 24 hours after it was posted, the video had been viewed over 800,000 times and shared nearly 20,000, WECT-TV reports. By Thursday morning the video had been watched 3 million times and over 75,000 shares.
WECT-TV reports that when the driver was asked why he hit the Trump campaign sign, he said “I did what I felt was morally right. Spread love, not hate.”
