Officer injured during chase in Anderson, suspect in custody

Anderson Police say an officer was injured during a chase on Franklin Street following a traffic stop.

An officer suffered a dislocated shoulder as a result of a fight with the 38-year-old Roosevelt Cousar, who was arrested, according to Lt. David Creamer.

Lt. Creamer says officers attempted to stop a car and that car refused to stop.

Officers say the Cousar threw what appeared to be drugs out of the car during the chase. The Cousar then got out of the car and ran from the scene after which the fight with the officer occurred.

Officers recovered 4 ounces of cocaine, several bags of marijuana, and $11,852 in cash from the car and the road.
