Upstate officers are asking for your help after they say some people just don’t know what to do when they hear police sirens and see emergency lights behind them.
Spartanburg Police say officers always pass on the left – and they ask that if you see flashing light, do your best to move to the right.
The worst thing you can do – is stop suddenly, says Major Art Littlejohn.
“They’ll either stop because they’re shocked or they’re nervous or either they could be on their cell phone or texting or they’re just not paying attention,” explained Major Littlejohn.
Officers say, if they can’t get to where they need to in these situations, they can’t help keep others safe.
