Zootopia continues box office dominance, beats newcomers

HOLLYWOOD, CA (CNN) – Two movies opened in wide release this weekend, but neither could dethrone the current box office champ.

Zootopia continues to show its dominance, holding on to number one for the third straight week with $38 million which brings its domestic box office gross to just over $200 million.

The Divergent Series: Allegiant narrowly missed its expected opening, with an under performing $29 million.

Miracles From Heaven opened in third place, beating experts’ predictions by bringing in $15 million.

The merc with a mouth dropped two spots this weekend as Deadpool finished in fifth place with $8 million.

10 Cloverfield Lane also fell two spots to land in fourth with $12.5 million.

The Academy Award-winning The Revenant made it back into the top 10, moving up one spot with a $1.2 million weekend.
