BLACKSBURG, SC– A man has died after a shooting in Blacksburg, Wednesday morning.
Carl Francis Burden, 35, of Blacksburg, was shot around 4 a.m. and was driven to the Mary Black Health System-Gaffney by his wife, according to the Cherokee County Coroner, Dennis Fowler.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s office says the victim and his wife pulled over to the side of Blacksburg Highway when another vehicle approached them.
Deputies say the victim and the driver in the other car knew each other.
An argument broke out between them and the victim was shot through the car’s window, deputies say.
That’s when the victim’s wife drove him to the hospital, around 4:13 a.m., where he later died, according to deputies.
Deputies say they have a good idea of a possible suspect and hope to make an arrest by the end of the day. This was an isolated event and the public doesn’t have anything to be worried about, deputies say.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s office and Cherokee County Coroner’s office scheduled an autopsy for Thursday.
