Lynn Vorys, April 2016 Caring for the Carolinas Winner

JACK ROPER
Jack Roper, Fletcher North Carolina, and we’re giving away our Caring for the Carolinas award for the month of April. And we’re going inside the Books for Good book store, where they sell books to raise money for charity. Come with me

HARRY HANKLA, PRESIDENT – BOOKS FOR GOOD
What we do is accept donations from members of the community, of books and we sell them., and we donate the profits, all of the profits, to the charity designated by the donor. So if you want to bring books in, you can specify what charity benefits by it.

NANCY STURGIS, VOLUNTEER – BOOKS FOR GOOD
Ever since I’ve known Lynn, I’ve been amazed at her effort that she puts forth for charities and volunteering in the community. When she decided to open this bookstore, an all-charitable bookstore run by volunteers, she worked endlessly to do it. She worked 80 hours a week to get it organized and she constantly is looking for ways to improve it and ways to earn more money for the charities.

And Lynn Vorys, part of winning our trophy for April is winning a Thickburger, a free Thickburger from Hardee’s once a week for a year.

NANCY STURGIS, VOLUNTEER – BOOKS FOR GOOD
She’s a terrific lady and she’s always a pleasure to work with. She’s always upbeat and happy and looking for new ways to make things better.

JACK ROPER
We have for you, a trophy, we thank Bath Fitter and Hardee’s for the trophies, because we appreciate your volunteerism. And I hear applause. I sense it, I hear it!
