Anderson Co. Sheriff’s Office says they evacuated TTI Power Equipment plant after an explosion on Pearman Dairy Rd.
Locals call the plant Ryobi. The plant manufactures tools.
The company says the accident happened around 12:20 p.m. Friday.
It happened in the product test lab.
One person was taken to the Joseph M. Still Burn Center in Augusta via medical helicopter.
Anderson Co. Emergency Services says the explosion damaged several nearby rooms. There is no fire but a lot of smoke they were trying to get out of the building.
They are not sure about the extent of the victim’s injuries.
Anderson Fire Department has cleared the building for occupation, with the exception of 2 areas which were the point of the incident.
The company says the accident damaged part of the roof of the building and caused other cosmetic damage.
Parents have been asking if their children in nearby schools are safe.
We contacted Westside High, Lakeside Middle and Centerview Elementary.
They say they were notified and there is no danger.
They were on normal schedules.
