On Monday, the regional director for AMI Kids and Camp White Pines came to the Union County Sheriff’s Office to report verbal threats made against the facility.
The director said over the weekend someone made verbal threats to the camp over a voicemail that was threatening in nature.
The director stated that the same person then called the camp Monday morning cursing and yelling at staff.
The security levels at the facility have been increased, according to the report. The Sheriff’s Office will also do extra patrols at the facility.
Over the past two weeks, two teens have escaped the low security DJJ facility. The camp is now being investigated by DJJ and AMI after a teen complained that he was beaten by other teens and staff.
