Customers of Charter Communications may have notice an error when they check their online statements or call into the automated system. Some customers accounts are showing they have been double billed, or will be on their next auto-pay draft date.
After getting numerous calls from Charter customers on April 15, 7News let Charter know about the billing error.
Charter says it is investigating the “issue” and have found no incidences where money has been taken out of someone’s credit card or bank account twice, so it appears to be a problem with their billing service provider.
A representative with Charter Communications stopped short of commenting on whether the issue is a technical glitch or whether hackers are responsible. Patti Michel says Charter is working with its billing system vendor to correct the issue.
