Clemson University will meet with students to discuss diversity issues and the racial climate on campus the week of April 17, officials said.
The move comes after two days of protests and sit-ins inside Sikes Hall building. It happened after someone placed bananas on a campus banner promoting African-American history.
The racial incident was quickly denounced by University President James Clements. But some students said that didn’t go far enough and staged sit-ins. Five students were arrested after they refused to leave Thursday.
Those students were released on a personal recognizance bond and are scheduled to appear in court in May.
