Over 100 people were out protesting at the steps of the Henderson County Courthouse calling for the repeal of the North Carolina’s controversial House Bill 2, Friday afternoon.

Our coverage partners at the Hendersonville Times-News report that protesters carried signs with messages including “Trans Lives Matter,” “Flush HB 2,” “NC Last in Education, First in Discrimination,” and “Stop the Hate.”

Participants in the protest also signed a petition to be presented to local legislators asking them to repeal HB2.

The protest was organized by Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), an organization with over 400 chapters and 200,000 members throughout the country.
