GAFFNEY, SC (WSPA) – A security guard at the Hamrick’s store near Gaffney was assaulted, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department.
The Sheriff says the guard would not allow an employee to enter without her security badge.
The employee then left and called her father to the scene who spit on and punched the security guard, according to the Sheriff Mueller.
The father, 46-year-old Paul Andrew Gallant has been charged with Assault and Battery 1st Degree, trespassing and Malicious Injury to property.
The guard was taken to Spartanburg Medical Center with serious injuries.
Sheriff Mueller said of the incident, “It’s a shame that a grown man 46 years of age cannot control his emotions and anger that he resorts to assaulting a 61-year-old because his daughter can’t follow the rules.”
Gallant is currently being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
