HOLLYWOOD, CA (CNN) – Two new movies led the weekend box office – and one made much more than the “Bare Necessities.”
The Jungle Book surpassed all expectations, opening with $103.6 million – the second-best April debut ever, behind last year’s Furious 7
Barbershop: The Next Cut debuted in second place, as analysts expected, though it’s $20.2 million opening was a bit below estimates.
After one weekend on top, The Boss fell to third place, taking in $10.2 million.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice fell to fourth place with $9 million – it’s up over $300 million domestic as well.
Zootopia crossed the $300 million mark in domestic box office with a fifth place weekend worth $8.2 million.
