Veterans from across our area are headed to Washington, DC.
It’s the latest Honor Flight for service members who fought in WWII and the Korean War, but this one is happening with the help of high school students.
This is the 16th Honor Flight from our area.
These veterans will check in by 7AM and take off at 8AM, Tuesday. The group will make it back to the airport at 8:30PM.
It’s a group of 85 service members and their guardians, including some Travelers Rest High School students.
The students raised money through their spirit week fundraiser and presented a check to the Honor Flight Upstate group, Monday.
It gives veterans the chance to see the memorials and monuments built in their honor in Washington, DC.
This flight is also honoring fallen Greenville Officer Allen Jacobs. The veterans will take two flags and walk them through the monuments for his family as Jacobs was an honor flight volunteer.
