Windows users warned to delete QuickTime over security concerns

(WFLA) — Windows users are being warned to delete Quicktime over security concerns.

That’s the message from the Department of Homeland Security to all Windows users after security loopholes were discovered in the software. The warning, published last Thursday on the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team’s website, states Microsoft Windows systems with Apple QuickTime installed are at risk. Many people use QuickTime to view movie and video clips.

How to uninstall QuickTime

Open the Control Panel
Click on “Programs and Features”
Find QuickTime on the list and select it
Click “Uninstall”
You can also do a Windows search for “Uninstall QuickTime.”

What program should I use instead?

Windows Media Player

VLC for Windows is a free program

iTunes for Windows
