Florida State Pulls Away to Top Clemson, 11-2

CLEMSON, S.C. (Clemson SID) – No. 3 Florida State broke Sunday afternoon’s game open with four runs in the fifth inning en route to an 11-2 victory over Clemson to even the series 1-1 at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.

The Tigers (27-15, 10-13 ACC) scored first on Reed Rohlman’s run-scoring double in the first inning. The Seminoles (29-12, 14-5 ACC) took a 3-1 lead with two runs in the third inning, then extended their lead with two runs in the fourth inning and four runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by Ben DeLuzio’s two-run single.

Seminole starter Drew Carlton (5-2) pitched 7.1 strong innings to earn the win, allowing seven hits, two runs and four walks with four strikeouts. Clemson starter Clate Schmidt (5-3) suffered the loss, as he yielded five runs (three earned) on seven hits in 3.2 innings pitched.

The series concludes Monday at 7 p.m., on ESPNU. Fans can purchase four tickets and a $10 concession voucher for only $30.
