GAFFNEY, SC (WSPA) – Two people have been arrested after a Gaffney house was burglarized and a car stolen in April, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.
28-year-old Jimmy Lee Bright was arrested and charged with First Degree Burglary, two counts of Grand Larceny, and Malicious Damage to Property. 18-year-old Garry Tyrone Martin was charged with a Probation Violation and was cited for not having a driver’s license and possession of marijuana.
Deputies say a house on Goldmine Springs Road in Gaffney was burglarized on Thursday, April 28 and several thousand dollars worth of items were taken and the home was trashed. A 1997 Toyota Camry was also taken.
The owner of the home told officers that his son, Bright, might be responsible.
The stolen car was stopped the next day on Cherokee Avenue by detectives. The driver, Garry Martin, was arrested in addition to Bright. Investigators found some of the stolen property that had been ditched on the side of a road and were able to return most of the stolen property and the car to the victim.
Both Bright and Martin are being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center.
