Burglary suspect killed in crash after chase near Starr

Investigators comb over the wreck site where a burglary suspect crashed during a chase near Starr.

STARR, SC (WSPA) – One person has died, killed after wrecking during a chase.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy responded to a burglary report at a Shell Station on Highway 81 S around 1:40am Thursday.

The deputy arrived and saw the suspect leaving the convenience store.

The Sheriff’s Office says the suspect took off in a 2008 Chevrolet Impala and the deputy pursued.

At 1:43am, the suspect ran off the right shoulder of the road, hit a curb and overturned several times.

He wasn’t wearing a seat belt and was ejected and died.

The crash happened at Cumming Spring Road.

The suspect was the only person in the car and the deputy wasn’t hurt.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.

According to Charlie Boseman with the Anderson County Coroner’s Office, the victim is Kyle Michael Presjak, 25, of Warren, Ohio.

Boseman says he was driving his girlfriend’s car, who lives in Georgia and investigators aren’t sure why he was in Anderson County.
