Greenville Girl Scout saves friend’s life, gets Medal of Honor

EllaBelew216-year-old Ella Grace Belew of Greenville saved her friend’s life after she started choking.

The girls were playing in Ella’s front yard when she noticed her friend choking on a brownie bite.

She gave her friend the Heimlich and saved her life.

Ella’s sister, who was in total shock, asked her where she learned the Heimlich.

Ella said, “Well I didn’t get my Safety Patch for nothing.”

She received the Girl Scout Medal of Honor Wednesday.

The Girl Scouts says the Medal of Honor is given for saving a life or attempting to save a life without risking the candidate’s own life.
